12/3/10 08:59 am - Damn you Santa. Damn you to hell!

So we went to the children's museum last night.

While there she had a big conversation with Santa. He asked her what she wanted for christmas... and she told him "oh I want the twin babies with the bag and the extra clothes and the baby pepsi and the baby snack and keys at the back of my doll book at home! I want that so so so bad and I've been pretty good, can you bring it to me?" And of course, he said "sure!"

Only problem is those dolls with the set she wants is A HUNDRED AND SEVENTY FIVE DOLLARS.

I'd LOVE to get them...but even if Tif goes in with me on it like she was suggesting on Thanksgiving, I don't think either of us can afford that much. With shipping its like 215 bucks. Yikes.

My mom had offered to get it for her this christmas back in July and I was all "YAY! MOM ISN'T FILLING OUR HOUSE WITH CRAPPY GIFTS THIS YEAR!" and then she decided two weeks ago that she wasn't buying for anyone this year. Wonderful! Because we've been getting those catalogs half a year and she REMEMBERS!!! Ugh.

So that sucks. bad. Like, sucks real bad.

Anybody wanna donate to the "get Kiernan the American girl bitty twins for Christmas to keep the magic of Santa alive for her" fund? pp is jasminemichelle@gmail.com
I'm going to go beg Paul on Monday on behalf of K...I don't know if he will do it...but I will beat myself up if I don't try, y'know?
And I have to order it by the 7th if I don't want to pay for the $39 shipping... If I am not doing that, its more like $190.
I hate being poor.
Next year I am doing the majority of my shopping with our tax return! Screw going through this again.

lol Kiernan just announced that when she grows up and gets married she wants her married name to be Goff. Why? "Because your name is pretty, mommy and I like it!" Something tells me she doesn't quite understand... hahha

Also, the address on the last page? totally not mine. Sweetser avenue is like a mile from my house. No idea what's wrong with it. :)

11/25/10 09:50 am

Well, looks like it's a family I picked holiday. My brothers won't come (Jacob says it's because I can't cook-won't coat everything with tons of salt... And we're obviously starving as a result of my cooking), mom is mad at me so that means Paul and mom won't come (mom is mad because her-and my!- friend sharons daughter wants Kiernan to have sharons piano... So she can learn to play! Mom wants it as a glorified coffee table.)
Because mom and Paul are not coming, Barb won't come...which means her whole crew won't be here. Whatever.
Tiffany wants me to pick her up at 6:30. Randa and Daniel will be here around 3:30 to help me finish cooking. Annie and David are coming... Looks like that'll be all.
And I know, that's 6 big people and two children... But I'm kind of meh about the whole thing.
I've got five pumpkin pies, two sweet potato pies, two peanut butter pies, two chocolate peanut butter pies, and frog eye salad. I've got a 17 pound bird, a 9 pound ham, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, biscuits, broccoli casserole, green bean casserole, stuffing, deviled eggs, homemade cranberry sauce, apple casserole, and 7 layer salad.
I guess I can scale back the amounts of each thing. :-/ I planned the menu, shopped, and prepped yesterday for 12 adults and at least 3 kids...

We'll see...

10/11/10 09:18 am - Book Meme

8/10/10 05:17 pm - Writer's Block: Home sweet home

Do you have a favorite aesthetic style in terms of home design? If money were no object, how would you change your home?

Generally, I like my home.we have lots of bright cheerful colors and it makes me a happier person to be surrounded by brightness. If I could change things, mostly I'd just want to finish up the projects we have going. We'd finish painting the kitchen and bathrooms, fix the roof, do some work on the front porch/back patio. I'd replace the fence in the back and fence in the front and maybe pave the driveway. Oh and I'd paint the shutters and the front door bright purple. I'm talking glitter tricycle paint purple :D I actually HAVE the paint...just haven't had time to do it yet! :D :D :D

Now if I had money for additions, I'd add another bedroom directly behind the kitchen. Directly behind the dishwasher, I'd have a big ass walk in pantry with floor to ceiling shelves for canned/boxed groceries and a space for our smaller freezer. I think about 6 feet deep and 4 feet wide, 18 inch shelves would give us room to walk to the back so...that would be sufficient. We'd put the bedroom's door next to the pantry door and the closet next to that for an insulating buffer. Right now, we'd use that room as a baby room for our yet-to-be-born child...but after he/she grew up, we'd move a boy into what is currently the den or a girl into K's room and make that room be the den/guest room. :) I'd probably want to paint it a light yellow or a sage green color...we don't have much in the way of pastels in our house lol. It'd be a big ass room - 14 x 17 or so not counting the doorway. Our kitchen is pretty good sized.

I'd also like to rip out our master bathroom and re do it completely. where the current sink is up to the linen closet, I'd put a double shower. we'd probably just take out the wall the door is in out and move it back even with the bedroom doorway. We'd put a big garden tub where the linen closet and the useless bedroom space is, move the linen closet up to the end of the tub about where the current shower spicket is, and have the bathroom open up looking towards out bed. i'd want to go for a corner sink and put a big corner mirror in and LOTS of light. the master bath was a huge compromise for us when we bought the house because teh tub is too short for either of us to be able to take a bath in comfortably.

Finishing out the garage would be an awesome project to maybe undertake one of these days too. It'd be nice to move the "man cave" out there.

I'd also LOVE to get one of those good sized yard barns, about 18x18 that have a porch and a loft and paint it up for Kiernan to have a playhouse/play room. If we put it close to the garage, we could easily run a couple extension cords to it for her to have a light and heat/air. If you insulate one of the ones that size, it ends up about 15x15 which, hell, when she's a teenager/young adult maybe she could freaking live in it. lol. They're about 2500-3k and it'd be about another 500-1k to insulate and fix it up for her but it'd be nice! I seriously wanted my parents to let me live in theirs when I was a teen... They have them now that have real doors that lock and 2-3 windows...the one I saw at Home Depot had a porch that ran the full length of the building, had posts on either end that would be GREAT to hang plants on or something and then a double loft inside. The smaller loft would be a great "study nook" and had a space over the porch that'd be a good closet type area...The loft is about 6.5 feet high in the middle portion, 5-6 feet from the outside wall to the middle and the closet area was about 4 feet high for about 6/8 ft in the middle and shorter closer to the walls. The other half of the loft was bigger, maybe 8 feet from the wall with the same height - 6'5 feet for the middle part going to sloped walls... that's plenty big enough for a bed and a night stand? hahah
I told my mom I'd put a couch/tv under the sleeping loft and a mini fridge/microwave/card table under the smaller one. Done. Super bedroom/apt. :D For a playhouse though, we could set it up with built in kid size cabinets (and put them on the racks that can be raised taller as she gets taller! and fully deck it out like a miniature house! The smaller loft part would be perfect for a "dressing room" with her dressup stuff and her little vanity...set it up like a little pretend bathroom. She could have a blow up bed or her toddler bed or something for the "bedroom" part and then we could get some kid sized furniture to put out there for her little living room...

yeah. I'm such a nerd. lol I've fantasized about this way too much, huh? Mmm insomnia.

I woke up so pissed at brian this morning. I had made a super awesome sandwich in my dream, prepared to eat it, went to the bathroom and he was eating it!

7/31/10 11:58 pm - Goodbye to Dale Greer.

I don't know how much I wrote earlier in the week about Dale Greer's passing...but he passed a few days ago after a 2 year struggle with cancer. He was 70 this past March.
dale's public service was today... one of my other profs at morehead has been posting pictures of the pictures and stuff at the service... This is my favorite:

Just goes to show you what kind of guy he was. lol.

He had met so many people during his life... He knew Muhammad Ali personally, worked with Nick Clooney in Lexington and knew George as a little kid...One of his favorite stories to tell was about how he would tell little George Timothy that he was so pretty he would have to grow up and be a movie star. Which...y'know how that turned out lol!

During the last two years of his life, he'd written FOUR books. I am going to have to get copies.

I am SO grateful that Doc Biel has put forth the time to put all of these up on facebook so people who live far out can see them. I would love to have been up there...but we just made the trip two weeks ago when Paul passed. Sigh. Plus Brian CANNOT get tomorrow off (he checked) and there was no time available yesterday either so we'd have driven up and back today WITH Kiernan and that's just too much on her. :(

Just thank you Dale. Thank you so much for all that you taught us. Not just me, not just Brian...but the thousands of lives at MSU that you touched, the lives you touched in Vietnam, at WAVE in Louisville, and even at the little ole podunk radio station you started at in Paris. Thank you so much for living your live with the vigor and genuine happiness you have. I'll miss you, buddy.

I am the most awesome wife ever: hubby and i are at hooters on our anniversary.

7/20/10 07:12 pm

So I'm trying to figure out what K will need for headstart since its just a month away (YIKES!) and the sales are going on now... There's no lists available online. ARGH.
So I'm looking at the kindergarten lists, blah blah blah and it looks like we're going to get to purchase an entire new wardrobe for her!
I fucking hate uniforms. I felt that way when I was a kid and would get asked about it... I hate them. She can't wear jeans period ever. Not even jean skirts. She can't wear any pants that don't have belt loops. She can't wear a skirt unless its plain khaki. She can't even wear black or navy dress slacks. WTF? She doesn't have ANYTHING that will work for the stupid uniform. Even her two pair of khakis are not allowed because both pair are boot cut, belt loop-less, and one pair has a ruffle on the hem.
She can wear polo shirts in red, navy, black, white, and gray. That's it.
She has LOTS of collared shirts...but none are polos. And none are those colors alone.
Even her shoes are illegal... plain solid colored tennis shoes only. This will make our lives so fucking difficult and there's no reason for it. :(
If I send her to a different school, well, we're still going to be fighting this in 6th grade because every single middle school in town has these same rules plus some.
Seriously, I've looked in her closet and she does not have a single outfit she can wear. And almost everything she has we bought with the intention of lasting into kindergarten.

Just...bothers me a lot. Not enough to not send her to school or anything, because I don't think I can give her everything she needs to grow and learn what she is supposed to without sacrificing my own questionable sanity... but fuck it pisses me off. :( :( :(
Oh. And I have NO IDEA what she's going to need for school. ARGH.

7/8/10 10:35 pm - The Admiral is out.

Paul Lyons passed away today. ...He was the old man I worked for at the radio station, who was the reason I started dating Brian...it as his house I was in the first time Brian told me he loved me.
He gave me a chance. He trusted me. He let me try and learn and I am forever grateful to him for that.
I'm pretty upset right now. I loved that old man a whole lot.
Still not sure when his service will be...Probably Monday or Tuesday.
Here's the obit.

6/22/10 05:38 pm - two of my friends did this so I will too since I'm cool like that.

1. NAME: Jasmine

2. AGE: 27

3. LOCATION: Evansville, Indiana

4. OCCUPATION: Full time student, full time mommy. That's all I can handle right now!

5. PARTNER: Brian. He's 27 and works for AT&T as a business end user care rep. Basically, answers calls for small businesses about their cell phones.

6. KIDS: Kiernan. She's 4 and is in preschool/daycare for the summer, starts headstart this fall. Since going to daycare, she's been a million times more outgoing at story time at the library and swimming at the Y. She will PLAY with other kids now! YAY!!!! And by "play" I don't just mean say "Hey, you do this while I do this"...they interact without her bossing their every move! lol
We are actively working on another. :)

7. SIBLINGS: 2 brothers...Jon is 24(just turned) and recently moved back in with our parents after breaking up with his long-term (8 years) girlfriend. He is currently dating a sweet 19 year old girl named Stormy and they both work full-time at the Forget-Me-Not where he is a server and she works in the kitchen. They are renovating a house they just bought and will be moving in together soon. Jon dropped out of high school because his ex was older and was done with school and she wouldn't work. So to support them, he quit school as a junior and got his GED. He plans to start college the fall of 2011 when he will be an independent student so he doesn't have to claim our parents' income for aid.
Jacob is 20 (21 in Sept) and lives in the "party house" or garage at our parents' house. His girlfriend is 18 and her name is Nichole. Jacob and Nichole both mooch off my parents and refuse to get jobs where they have to deal with money, groceries, or any kind of food. Jacob took 6 years to get a "certificate of participation" for high school...no diploma.

8. PETS: Padme, our red almost 8 month old miniature dachshund puppy and Vader our just a little over year old HUGE tuxedo cat. We also have chickens but they currently are living at my Aunt's house until we can get the stupid coop built.

9. WHERE AND FOR WHAT DID YOU GO TO SCHOOL?: Oh boy. I attended USI in Evansville from Fall 01- Summer 03...Broke up with ex, got crazy, moved in with family in KY where I started MSU in the spring of 04. I attended MSU from 04-spring 06 when I had my daughter. I tried summer of 06 but broke my leg... Ended up giving up. We moved BACK to Evansville (for me...first time for them!) last summer and I took 2 summer classes at USI. I'm taking 12 hours this summer too and will be back in the regular swing of things this fall. At USI before I was majoring in radio/tv, poly sci, sociology. MSU I started out electronic media production (same as RTV) and sociology, switched to e media with a minor in women's studies. Now at USI I'm Soc/RTV but I'm switching it to secondary edu social sciences and maybe a major in RTV, maybe a minor...depends how much more work I gotta do! :)

10. PARENTS: My mom is Betty. She's 46. I never met my bio father but my dad for all relevant intents and purposes is Paul, 52. They're both pretty awesome most of the time although mom makes me crazy in moderate amounts. Paul I can spend time with ALL the time. Kiernan LOVES him too and just kind of tolerates mom. hahaha

11. HOBBIES/INTERESTS: reading, video games, tv, MUSIC, football, the sims...my critters? Dunno. I no longer have free time....

5/26/10 08:40 am - Writer's Block: Cat talk

If your dog or cat had a mobile phone, who would be listed first on her or his speed dial?

Padme the puppy would have me listed first. I am decidedly her human. She'll play with the kid or the husband...but I'm her favorite.
Vader the loves Kiernan. Why he loves that 4 year old who is so fucking mean to him I have no idea...but he even tries to jump between us when I'm scolding or spanking her. Its kind of funny.

4/30/10 10:27 am - Writer's Block: Young and driven

What is the legal drinking age where you live? Do you think it should be higher, lower, or remain the same, and why?

I live in Indiana in the US of A where the drinking age is 21. I think that having a drinking age that high is ridiculous.
I went to school with people who died in a war before they were old enough to legally drink in their own living room. I think that unless we change the age of accountability for murder, credit, marriage, joining the military, smoking, and everything else that is legal at 18 to 21, we should lower the drinking age to match.

I'm actually enrolled for fall. Everything I'm taking is on the assumption K gets into head start... if she can go, my parents said they'd pick her up at 2 so I can go for another hour every day. I have a little bit of built in study time...

Everything counts for something. Well, except the political pundits in pop culture class. But it counts for 300/400 in my discipline so Neiner! The theatre counts as an art class which I have to have. The math is remedial but its the last remedial I have to take before I can do 111. I'll take 111 (college algebra) next summer BY ITSELF and if I have to spend two hours in academic skills every day to understand it, I will. All the political science and history and the psych count for the history secondary education major I'm switching to hopefully next fall. My GPA is a 2.2 and I have to have a 2.75. I can do that. :)

I have never gotten less than a B in a summer class except the term I got married(and was really sick and pregnant and didn't turn in the final project lol) and I had a 78%.

What I think I'm doing is switching from radio/tv and sociology double major to a history major (Secondary education) with an emphasis in sociology and a radio/tv minor. I need like one more class for a minor in rtv so why not get it, y'know? With the history education major, I can teach, substitute or otherwise or I can look into library sciences and apply with the libraries in town. I'd LOVE to do that.
I'm super excited that all my classes this fall are in the same building lol and except for summer 1, they are all in that building in the summer, too. :)

3/15/10 07:20 pm - "The Controvery Survey"

Do you have the guts to answer these questions and re-post as The Controversial Survey?
Oh yeah that's a controversial question. sure.

Would you do meth if it was legalized?
no, my teeth look nice, thanks.

Abortion: for or against it?
I unequivocally think it should be legal in all circumstances. Period.

Do you think the world would fail with a female president?
only if it were a halfwit like Sarah Palin. I hate that woman. No, wait, she scares the shit out of me.

Do you believe in the death penalty?

Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already?
Yep. And then regulate and tax it like cigarettes and alcohol. Actually, I think pot should be legal and cigarettes illegal. How do you like THEM apples? :D

Are you for or against premarital sex?
Yeah, I think the whole idea of marrying someone without knowing if they can rock your socks is stupid. No way would I encourage my kid to marry someone without testing the waters. :)

Do you believe in spanking your children?
In short, yes.

Do you think same sex marriage should be legalized?

Do you think it's wrong that so many Hispanics are illegally moving to the USA?
Wow, LOVE when controversy=overt racism. Why is it okay to hate that brown people are coming in but nobody says anything about all those white Canadians coming in, eh? :-p
In short, we were all immigrants at one time and place except for the native Americans so why get our panties in a wad because we've all but closed our borders to anyone not white, healthy, and educated...and people who aren't want to come in and work.

A twelve year old girl has a baby, should she keep it?
I would not encourage my 12 year old to continue a pregnancy. A 12 year old's body is not normally fully equipped to handle a pregnancy and her chances of being drug into a c-section/induction are so much higher.... Just, no. I'd encourage an abortion. If she didn't want to terminate the pregnancy, I think I would want to adopt that baby and raise it as her brother/sister. A 12 year old doesn't need a child. BUT you bet your happy little ass that she'd be on some kind of birth control from then until she turned at LEAST 18 if I have to grind pills up in her applesauce and have some STRICT supervision too. Yikes. An accidental pregnancy can happen to anyone...but if it happens repeatedly to someone's child I think its child neglect.

Should the war in Iraq be called off?
Um, yeah. Years ago. Like before it began.

Should assisted suicide be illegal?

Do you believe in God?
Maybe. But probably not the same way you do. :-p

Would you burn an American flag for a million dollars?
Hell, if I wouldn't go to jail for arson and I could save my family, pets, pictures and family heirlooms, I'd burn my house down for a million bucks. lol

Do you think you would make a better president?
I think Obama is doing a good job. :) 'Sides, I'm not old enough to be president. :)

Are you afraid others will judge you from reading some of your answers?
Eh, everyone who would read them already knows how I feel about most of these things anyway. :-p

...Kiernan Diane was drug into this world kicking and screaming. 5:11 in the evening is when I first heard her cry. Her daddy held her in his arms until I was able to take her from him at almost 8pm.
She's quite honestly one of the sweetest little girls I know. She's creative, funny, sweet, sympathetic, nurturing, bossy, take charge, very smart and after spending a few minutes with her, very few will dispute that she's a very special little person.
I think she's a very old soul. She does things and says things from time to time that...she just shouldn't. Even as a newborn, everyone who held her and looked into her eyes said there was something there that was more...than whatever her chronological age was.

Today she's four years old. Four years. Man. It doesn't seem like its been that long. She does so much, she knows so much, she remembers SO MUCH. But as a little girl, sometimes things just don't stick. Thankfully, she's already forgot the bad babysitter from Virginia although she does remember the apartment we lived in for the better part of two years. I doubt when she's grown, she'll remember her time in Virginia at all... she's been in Indiana since she was just a month or so past her 3rd birthday exclusively except for a couple week long visits.
Four years old and she's already lived in 3 states. In just four years, she's lived in 5 houses/trailers/apartments...not counting 6 weeks in Mamaw and Papaw's garage and the other place I lived when she was in my belly.

I felt so bad for so long because I didn't bond well with her as a baby...but I love her so much now I can only hope that it makes up for it.
She's special, She's wonderful, She's mine, and she's 4 years old today.

1/9/10 09:55 pm - Introducing Padmé:

These were just 3 weeks ago:

She's doing pretty good...she's a little nervous with how loud we all are lol but she's okay.
She's a bit scared of her kennel and frankly with those two big cats looking in on her, I don't blame her at all.
She peed in the petstore today and she pooped in the kennel... I think she peed a little when I sat her down outside earlier but I'm not sure. She DOES NOT like how cold it is outside right now lol.

She REALLY likes to be held... she's a lap puppy haha.

So how do we do the housebreaking? She eats like a hoss... Jennifer (the lady we got her from) said to give her about 1/4 cup and damp...so I put a 1/4 cup of food in a bowl, added enough water to get the bottom of it wet and nuked it for 15 seconds to soften it faster... She had the whole freaking meal done in 3 minutes flat! lol I was told to let her go to her kennel for about 15 minutes and then take her out...she pooped like 30 seconds after I locked the door..like as I was getting a blanket to cover the kennel, she pooped. So I picked up the little turd and put it on the porch and took her out "here's where you go poop, Padmé!" and praised her like she'd done it lol. I am so going to have my dog shit on my front porch. Maybe the fucking mailman will stop walking through my flower bed if she steps in dog shit a time or two. :D Nobody should be WALKING off the porch there...its landscaped and nice so we can WALK ON THE LANDSCAPED ROCKS and not through the flowerbed. :)
Is dog poop bad for your garden? I know it sounds stupid...but I don't know. I don't want to LEAVE it laying on my porch...just from 1-4pm while I wait for the mailman to trample my bulbs and if we can USE it for something, I will. :)

I am SO sick of this laptop not staying plugged in. OH MY GOD I WANT TO THROW IT OUT THE WINDOW!!!!!!!

Woke up w a cat on my head and a weird blast from the past text convo. Then the pee soaked preschooler made her presence known and my life resumed normal. Sigh.

12/20/09 04:08 pm - 5 more sleeps til christmas!

Crazy. Its just weird how fast this whole year has flown by. Sigh.

We're opening a couple presents tomorrow to celebrate winter's arrival. :) We made a few things today (paper chains, a wreath of Kiernan's handprints) and decorated a little more. :)

This is Padme. She will be coming home with us shortly after New Years. She's 3.5 weeks now and will be coming home at 6 weeks. Isn't she ADORABLE?

Me with Elmo yesterday. We went to go see Santa and he was outside.

Baby Bop was also there.

Kiernan... at Culver's in Corydon last Saturday.

K and I asleep at Andy's in November. :)

Kiernan with Santa yesterday. :)

2 of Brian's gifts are not here yet! THEY BETTER GET HERE SOON!

He's working today. And next Sunday. Sun-Wed, he's working 3-midnight. So this weekend is a 3 day weekend and new years is a 4 day weekend!

I swear to god I cannot tolerate anymore filthy fucking kitchen! It is now Wednesday and the roaster was just dumped and washed. The counters are covered... Ugh

11/27/09 11:31 am - Full of Thanksgiving WIN!

Seriously, this was the happiest thanksgiving I've ever had. EVER! I've had 27 of these little buggers and this was hands down my favorite (that, y'know, I remember lol)... And I do miss the holidays at my great grandmas when I was a little girl. But this? This was all MY family. ...Not a bunch of random child molesting uncles that I hate... but my parents, my ENTIRE family of orientation (siblings/their partners), my entire family of procreation, and one of the "family friends" that's been there my entire life. Plus I got to play with a baby who LIKED ME and who giggled and squealed when I kissed and played with her.
My mom whined a lot but she helped me.
There were no fights.
There was only one argument and it was mostly joking in manner... Larry brought up the "foreskin is not a birth defect" sticker I have on my fridge and I started to say something (defensive lol) when Jacob chimed in and mom shut him DOWN with a "aww, you still worried about your penis?" comment lol. Jacob jumped up and said "MAN! I AIN'T GONNA PUT UP WITH THIS SHIT!" while his girlfriend laughed hysterically and opened the door and ran out. About three seconds later he comes back in, runs across the room, grabs his coat and says "its cold out there." and we all laughed at him and he slammed the door again before coming back in, removing the coat again, and removing the cat from his place.
Jacob and Nichole brought their puppy... who really seemed to enjoy my cats...who did not enjoy the puppy. :D That chaos made me crazy. I'd like to get another dog... but not introduce them on a day when there's more people than have EVER been in my house at once! lol

If everyone hadn't eaten much later than originally planned (Jacob and Nichole ate at 3, Larry was supposed to have eaten at 3 but they ended up waiting til fucking FIVE, Jon and Megan ate about 3:30...) and came with full hunger, our 7pm dinnertime would have been perfect and there wouldn't have been much extra food. :)
As is, I sent a ton of leftovers home with Jon and Megan who both seemed excited about the prospect of eating the things that were at my end of the table (they were right next to Kiernan) and while we have an ENTIRE turkey breast remaining with stuffing in my crockpot, we tore the bigger one to pieces. There's a LITTLE bit left...but not much lol. There's about two sandwiches worth of ham left... The casseroles were a much bigger hit than I thought although I think I mismeasured the spices in my sweet potato casserole. I didn't like it but everyone else did lol.
We have 3 pumpkin pies (I'm SHOCKED about that one) out of the 5 I made, only one piece of the peanut butter pie was eaten...but I kinda kept it on the d-l for brian lol. We didn't even take the reese peanut butter pie out because, well, I don' have any more chocolate cool whip to make it again lol. and OH MY GOD. it was so rich I couldn't eat an entire piece (I cut pies into 6ths normally). Its soooooooooooooo good. mmmmmmmmm.
We forgot about the red velvet cake and the pecan pie. Darn. I gotta eat 'em. I lost the bananas before making the banana pudding. I'm not looking forward to finding them. lol. I went ahead and made it with a little banana extract added to the pudding mix. It was a hit because there's only 2-3 little servings left over. I did a layer of cookies, a layer of pudding, a layer of cookies, a layer of pudding mixed with an entire tub of cool whip and extract, another layer of cookies and another layer of cool whip plain. They DEVOURED it. :)
There was only a little bowl of stuffing left. Proud of that. Also glad taht I got whole wheat into my whole family. muhahahah.
I had half a quart bag of mashed potatoes left and megan took them home saying they were the creamiest mashed potatoes she'd eaten and she even liked that they had the skins of them lol. I used buttermilk, butter, and sour cream to cream 'em....but paul did the mashing and i gave him the credit.
Mom's deviled eggs were gone before the plate went all the way around the table. And that's after we all picked and ate 40 of them while cooking lol. We still had a whole tray of 20 eggs and...yeah. Gone. :)
The ONLY thing everybody didn't want to eat was the broccoli casserole but Barb, Chelsea, Tasha, me, and Brian all ate a ton and Megan took the rest of it home with her...she didn't know it was there. lol
And Tasha and Brian tore the 7 layer salad a new one. :) between just the two of them, they ate over half of it. :)
The turkey? not tooting my own horn, but the crock pot turkey was the BEST bird I've ever eaten. It smelled weird cooking, I'll give it that... But the combo of lemon pepper, fresh lemon juice, a whole bag of pearl onions that KILLED me peeling and cutting and a huge handful of garlic cloves shoved in a turkey breast along with a whole pound of butter? yeah. That was fucking fabulous. And as I said, there's nothing left but bones. lol I'd NEVER seen a bird tore apart like that so i think everyone liked it. Crock pot turkey = WIN!

Brian worked his ass off especially at the last bit. I was freaking out because stuff wasn't done yet, blah blah blah, and my back was HURTING and I HADTOSITDOWN. He shoved me out of the way, put the corn on the cob on, started the gravy, finished the cornbread and toasted the rolls all without any gripe at all. I know I bitch about him from time to time but man he really knows when to step in lol.

After the meal, my youngest brother and his girlfriend took off before I even got up from the table. No offer to even put their soft drink bottles in the trashcan. That kinda pissed me off but whatever. But Megan? oh my god Megan and Chelsea tagteamed cleaning, scraping, whatever... packing food up and putting it away. They got the dishes to Brian who loaded the first load in the dishwasher. (there's two more to go but everythings been rinsed so yeah) They broke the cardtable down, Mom and Barb bagged up food and I realized there were so many people, I could go sit and rest my aching (ACHING) back for a bit. I felt like an ass after I realized it was all done and I was sitting down but y'know what? I cooked the WHOLE FUCKING MEAL except for deviled eggs and mashing potatoes. :)
I sent Megan a text and asked her if she wanted to try and start over and be friends. Neither one of us have many friends and she obviously loves my daughter who obviously loves her... so why not? We've both grown up and she's been with my brother EIGHT YEARS so it ain't like she's going anywhere anytime soon.
I felt bad though... the last few placemats i just randomly wrote names on them after Kiernan decorated them without looking and realized the one I wrote Aunt Megan on was also one that Brian had drawn devil horns holding up a halo. Yeah...way to make me feel like a bitch. lol She thought they were adorable though. She and Jon actually both teared up when they saw them. And Paul full fledge cried. ...Tear running down his face and all.
We argued for a bit about a grace...I said they could do it as long as they did not say Jesus and said "gods and goddesses" figuring they'd let it go. Paul said no, he'd do it, since he's agnostic I was ok with it lol. All he said was "thank you for this bountiful food and the family we have to share it with. May we all be able to do this again next year" and he was all choked up. He's very emotional anymore. haha.

Final tally around my table from head to head, Kiernan, next to her right, Nichole, Jacob, Vick, Paul, Barb, Chelsea, the other head was Tasha and Celia, me, Brian, Mom, Megan, Jon, and Larry...next to Kiernan.
15 people in my little house. It was AWESOME. I am still excited that they all showed up. I kind of wish a couple of my other "family" showed up that I invited... but in reality, I only had 15 matching plates. And while Celia is only 5 months old and isn't eating, we used one of the plates for turkey to be passed around lol.

I have a huge pineapple rash on my face (I'm allergic but love it lol) but that's a small price to pay for frog eye salad and a happy wonderful holiday.

Tonight's dinner is gonna be lazy...I'm turning the crock pots (I keep typing cock pot lmao) on and going with it. So turkey, cranberry stuffing, and country style green beans along with whatever leftovers we want. :)

I hope you all had a happy thanksgiving. I know I did. :)

I am a generic jedi wa purple bmf lightsaber, k is leia and brian is random sith.

10/27/09 11:34 pm - Halloween Costumes!!...forgot the cuts. :)

okay so nobody in this town has a princess leia costume for a little girl. No long whtie dresses, not even any white skirts. SO! Mommy improvised. She got a pair of white ballet tights ($4) a juniors xxl racerback tanktop that comes down to the ground on her ($3)and a long sleeved small women's tshirt($4). I'm gonna put a white turtleneck on her, extra tights for warmth under the ballet tights (I got them because they're shiny and will keep her legs warm... and her other tights are all decorated with stuff or they're like hot pink or something and would show!)
The closest I could find was a size 8-10 leia costume that was 44 dollars! Um. No. :)
She's gonna wear her white nikes and I'm gonna make some kind of belt for her...
And god knows she has the hair!
pics behind cut.Collapse )
See? :)

As for me.. Yeah. Having bad luck. I cannot find white sweats to save my life! I'm thinking I'm gonna take a white sheet and fake it. lol
Here's what I'm shooting for...:
Padme pics...Collapse )
I'm gonna break out my sewing machine, methinks, and take my white flannel sheet... cut it to match a pair of black pool pants taht are the exact same cut as the second picture and go with it. :) They have a cool white cape at the halloween store next to the east side bdubs... Its 20 bucks but it will finish my costume. I'll be Pademe in chucks. :D Oh and i got this really long fake lashes to add lol It'll be AWESOME lol
Padme with purple glasses.
And Kiernan and I are both carrying light sabers and i don't care if its not the right weaponry!
2 more pics.Collapse )

10/25/09 01:20 pm - Thanksgiving!!!

who will be there.Collapse )

Its official: Thanksgiving dinner will be at my house this year at about 7pm. ...My husband is working Thanksgiving day and the day after for double time and a half and will be off Monday and Tuesday of that week PAID to compensate. Thanks to the Union... ;) He'll be working Wed/Thurs/Fri that week and his gross check should be somewhere around double his normal pay! :D Squee! He'll be off work at 4:55 and given I doubt he'll take more than a dozen calls all day, will be headed home around 5:10 to arrive at our door at 5:30-5:45. 7 should give him time to wind down, hang out, and help set the table. :)
So about a month out, I hear, is the proper time to plan. Turkey day is the 26th this year? So almost exactly a month prior to prepare.
Right now my list stands at 13 people. I'd love to have a couple more (Namely Tiffany!) but if not, I understand. My table seats 8 comfortably and I have a cart table and our old kitchen table to add to the end going into the kitchen so I should be able to fit 15 or so with no major hassles. I have 8 kitchen chairs (one has Kiernan's booster but we can move it if need be and put her in her high chair for the day), a kitchen chair Brian is using as a desk chair, MY desk chair and 3 folding chairs. Mom will most likely sit in her wheelchair. That's 15 seats including Kiernan's high chair! :) WE CAN DO THIS!
Menu!Collapse )
Looking in my kitchen, I seriously do not have enough plates for us all to use the same plates!!!! AUUUUGH!!!!

I figure, I can move my chair 1/2 closer to the door, scooch the couch a little closer and that will give us enough room to spread the tables out to eat. I was thinking of putting both leaves in the table, putting the card table next to it and then the kitchen table sideways against it so we can get an extra seat out of it. Of course, if we put it long ways, everyone will be facing in so I don't know. I really want to put up the Christmas tree before everyone gets here.... so that'll really put a damper on space! lol
I don't have enough chairs for everyone to just sit and watch the game and stuff... but I can put the ottomon for my chair against the wall where Kiernan's table is. And I figure Jacob and Nicole will spend the early part of the day her family, Jon and Megan with her family, vick and Larry with their respective families, John and Katie (Sharon's husband and daughter) with Sharon's family... So really the only ones who will be here ALL DAY are Mom, Paul, me, and Kiernan. Hopefully they will help me cook! lol Okay, hopefully PAUL will help me cook because Mom, well, Mom can't cook. :) She can child-wrangle. And really, Kiernan can help cook a few things.

If I start cooking Monday when Brian's home, I can make the pumpkin, apple, and sweet potato pies and get them out of the way. I have a huge fridge so I'll have to clean it out and make plenty of space.

We will start getting the house CLEANED before hand, of course. With Brian's birthday/vacation being the first weekend of November, that is pretty much grayed out. His bday is the 7th and he wants to go to Morehead...SOOOOOO we're going to Morehead if we can afford it. :) Otherwise, we'll stay home and clean and go out for his birthday! :)

I think Kiernan and I will do some table top crafts... She can help me make placemats for everyone. I think that'd be SO CUTE. Y'know, little hand turkeys on construction paper? Hehehehehehe adorable! Who wouldn't want that? I can check on contact paper or just cover them with scotch tape so they will wipe clean...maybe we can use them the next year too? :)

So Agenda for November:Collapse )

10/13/09 01:23 pm - Guess what?

I'm watching you.

10/7/09 11:37 pm - Pictures!!

We had a BALL tonight. We did nothing but walk and eat and it was glorious. I ate chicken fried bacon, oreos, twinkies, snickers, cheese cake and a tenderloin sandwich all deep fried and batter dipped. I had a walking taco, a root beer, a fudge puppy (hush puppy on a stick dipped in chocolate!) and it was AWESOME. lol In my gluttony defense, I only had a bite or two of everything but the bacon and the taco. I had half the sandwich and less than a third of the rootbeer becasue Brian kept taking it! ;-p
Kiernan got her face painted.
First couple pics are from the park Sunday.

Lots more behind the cut. Basically an entry with pictures! :D

9/16/09 08:45 pm - Also,

I've been sick as shit and haven't been online much. Ugh.
I have bronchitis. I have good drugs now that are making it tolerable but i'll be glad when I can breathe deeply without pain and dizziness.
You should hear this kid. I am SO PROUD. She's 3, folks. I am beside myself so proud of her.

9/16/09 08:41 pm - Very proud mommy.

My girl is reading to her daddy. Not a book we've EVER read before.
Its one of those some words, some pictures but she is reading the words the, is, a, an, but etc. I'm so proud of my girl.
Boots is saving the kite!
The kite will dis-a-peeeeeeear!
Will you help us?

9/10/09 02:55 pm - My proudest moment as a parent thus far:

We were watching the presidential address this morning while we ate lunch.
I DVR'd it.
We watched, Brian left, I restarted it and watched it again with Kiernan explaining things to her...
When he was heckled, Kiernan goes "Didn't his mommy teach him its not nice to yell when other people are talking?"
Need I remind you that my daughter is three and a half years old yet she knows that such behavior is inappropriate..... Hmm. Tells ya something. We were watching the presidential address this morning while we ate lunch.
